1074 State Route 40
Please join us Wednesday, December 11 at 2 PM while Stacy Barcomb shares strategies to caregivers of dementia patients for the holidays. The holidays can be stressful time for everyone. When the task of caregiving for a person with memory loss is added, the holidays can become even more difficult. This training will review caregiver stress and how to make the holidays less stressful. Some tips will be reviewed for preparing other family members or the changes the person with dementia may experience.
Stacey has been employed in social work in various positions for nearly 18 years and she has worked with people of all age groups. Stacey has been on staff at SUNY Plattsburgh since 2016 when the grant for Alzheimer disease and other dementias education and training began. Prior to Education & Outreach for SUNY, she was the Washington County Navigator for three years and met with 250 families in Washington County caregiving for a loved one with some form of memory loss.
All attendees will receive a free full length copy of the book Chicken Soup for the Caregiver’s Soup and other promotional items of their choice. There will also be a brief explanation of the Caregiver Support Initiative and the different services this NYS Department of Health grant funded program provides to the community at no cost.
