Our History Quilt

Easton is historically significant and aesthetically pleasing. Most importantly, Easton is our home. What better way to capture the contentment of home than in a quilt.

In today's fast-paced world, Easton has a very strong sense of community and family. This quilt is an indication of how several different people can work together to achieve the desired results.

About Our Community

The Town of Easton, Washington County, New York is a beautiful agricultural community in the Hudson River Valley. The 30+ farms make Easton the most agricultural town in the region. From the mountains on the east to the Hudson River on the west the beauty is enhanced by the patchwork of open fields and wood lots. This picturesque scenery is unsurpassed!

Easton boasts a variety of agricultural businesses - dairy, beef, horses, sheep, vegetables, fruits, field crops, plus small scale ventures such as emus, goats and poultry. There is also a meat processing operation, an agricultural products store, a veterinary clinic, a farm machinery business and an organic farm.

Visitors to our town may enjoy locally grown produce available at many farm stands, homemade ice cream, world-famous melons, golf courses, picturesque views and hiking trails at Dionondahowa Falls.

In and About Easton

Burton Hall:
Burton Hall was erected in 1901 through the generosity of Isaac Burton. It became the center for numerous community activities. From 1902 to 1955 Burton Hall housed the Easton Library and the name was changed to Burton Free Library. When the library moved to its new location, the charter was changed back to Easton Library again. Presently, Burton Hall houses town offices and is the principal meeting place for many functions.

Easton United Methodist Church:
The first organization of the Methodist Church in Easton was at Crandalls Corners in 1824 when meetings were held in the homes or at the schoolhouse. The present day white, two-story church in North Easton was completed in 1850. Its 600-pound bell, installed in 1899, was cast in Troy, N.Y. The cross-and-flame emblem adopted by the United Methodist Church in 1982 has special meaning to the Easton church. It symbolizes the declaration of a circuit rider preacher serving Easton in 1790: "a flame of fire runs through the heart of these people."

Willard Mountain Ski Area:
